OWL (Our Whole Lives) Teachers work in a team to teach sexuality education classes- levels include K-1, 5-6, and 8-9 grades.
OWL is the best sexuality education program out there, and we are fortunate to be able to educate our children on their bodies, on making healthy choices, and on being informed about sexuality. OWL Teachers provide a vital, needed service to our community and are rewarded with fun, enlightenment, and a deep dive into important topics. This role is a great position for those who are sincerely interested in young people and in expansive health education. Effective teachers are essential to building community, knowledge, and trust among our young people.
Successful teachers enjoy children, are able to establish loving boundaries, and understand the focus is on providing accurate information to our young people and allowing them to make their own choices. Teachers must be flexible, good listeners, confidential, and willing to grow. Teachers must be willing to work through their own thoughts and feelings around sexuality before beginning the class, and being able to leave their personal opinions and experiences to the side while working through the materials with the class.
Teachers must read the QUUF Safety Policy, sign appropriate documents, agree to a background screening, and attend a weekend training on leading OWL.
